Stair Lift Installation Guide

Stair Lift Installation Video There are two installation options available for Stair Lifts -- the standard self-installation option or the premium professional installation option. This installation guide will provide you with some tips and information about the two options. A Stair Lift installation video is also available to provide an overview of the installation process.

Self-Installation Option

What to Expect

After your purchase, your custom-cut Stair Lift will typically arrive in 3-7 business days. The lift components will arrive in three separate boxes. If your stair lift measurements required additional track or you purchased any accessories, the number of boxes may be higher.

Every Stair Lift includes a detailed Installation Manual. It is important to read the manual thoroughly before starting the installation. These instructions are designed help make the installation, safe and simple.

What's Required?

Every stair lift purchased from LiftWorks.com is custom cut so there is no additional cutting required prior to install. You will need only the following tools to install your new lift:

  • 532 Allen wrench
  • 38, 716 & 916 open-end wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Electric drill (preferably cordless) with a 38 socket on 8" extension
  • Length of string somewhat longer than the staircase length
  • What's Involved?

    After identifying all of the parts required for assembly, the installation process includes the following basic steps:

    1. Assemble the lower track by fastening brackets to track and sliding splice bars (used to join track sections) in place.
    2. Combine the upper track and lower track sections.
    3. Position the combined track 2" from the wall or furthest obstruction (handrail, window sill, etc.)
    4. Secure bottom of track in place using provided brackets and wood screws.
    5. Confirm track positioning using string and make adjustments if necessary.
    6. Route the control wires, power cable and power cord.
    7. Install and adjust seat.
    8. Complete installation of controls.
    9. Complete track installation and secure all brackets.
    10. Conduct safety test before using your new lift!

    Professional Installation Option

    What to Expect

    After your purchase, your Stair Lift will be shipped directly to your local installer, usually within 3-7 business days. You will receive a phone call from your local installer to schedule a date and time for your Stair Lift to be installed.

    If your state requires any permits, your installer will assist you in obtaining them.

    Please Note: The price of professional installation does not include any required permits or additional electrical work.

    The installation will take approximately two to three hours. Once the installation is completed, theinstaller will walk you through the stair lift operation and explain the lift?s features and benefits.
